![]() ![]() Going with this, I love books written as letters, so that was a natural benefit in my eyes. ![]() In many stories, advice comes from teachers or older family members, so coming from the boy’s favorite author was a unique avenue to take. I also liked that this advice came from the boy’s hero, an author. I think this story can be relatable for numerous young students across the country, and it has the potential to provide them with great advice on how to handle this unforeseen emotional trauma in their life. I remember that I liked this story being about a boy and his absentee father. Even as I’m writing this review, I’m struggling to remember much about the actual details of the story. Review: I had fond memories of reading this book in grade school, but after rereading it recently, I was left unimpressed. Henshaw and some advice, Leigh manages to gain control of his life and find some solace. He misses his dog, Bandit, and is frustrated about his lunch constantly being stolen by a classroom thief. He and his single mother have moved to a new town, and Leigh is upset about his absent father. Summary: Through a series of letters between Leigh Botts and his favorite author, Boyd Henshaw, we hear all about Leigh’s new life. ![]()
